Merry Christmas!

Santa's on The Run!

(The above photo was taken of my auntie and I at the ‘Santa’s on the Run’ event before we completed a 4 mile run to raise money for a local children’s hospice.)

It’s only 6 more sleeps until Santa and that means it’s been too long since my last post! After a whirlwind few weeks what with moving house, a Christmas Fair to prepare for, commissions to complete (not to mention Christmas shopping for friends and family) it has all finally caught up with me. Since last weekend I have been under the weather, suffering from extreme headaches :( I am due at the doctors later this morning for a second time to see if there’s anything else he can do for me.

That said, I wanted to pop by and wish you all a very merry Christmas and share with you some of the fun things I have been up to over the last few weeks:

I have enjoyed the frosty mornings and capturing these with my camera

I have enjoyed watching William settle into his new home :)

and enjoyed decorating my Christmas trees.

I have very nearly finished wrapping my presents and am looking forward to having a proper rest over the next couple of weeks. Whatever your plans are for Christmas and New Year have a lovely time!

Organised Chaos!

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a week since I last blogged. I have been so busy I’ve barely had chance to check and update Twitter, let alone write a blog post! It’s all been for a good reason though ;)

In the last week:

We have been packing up, ready for moving house next week!

William has been back to the vets more times than i care to remember BUT finally  had his bandage and cone collar off – so no more looking like this:

I have designed and had some new items made ready for this:

and I am also in the middle of creating new lined bags to be ready for this show and also to be available online.

More photos to follow soon and there’s another great Inspirational Blogger interview coming up tomorrow so be sure to check back!

What a week

You know those weeks where everything gets a little too much? Well that’s what my last week’s been like. If you follow me on twitter ( @katemacandrew) you might have read that my beautiful cat William broke his tail last week :( We arrived back from our Yorkshire break late on Friday and when William came in for the night his tail was all strange. The poor little mite didn’t seem too put out but we took him straight to the vets and they confirmed what I had already guessed – he had indeed broken his tail and there was a 99% chance it would need to be amputated up to the break. So we took him home and made a second appointment for him to be checked over again. So yesterday I dropped him off to be checked over and the vet confirmed I’d have to leave him so they could carry out the amputation.

The operation went well but since he’s got home he’s been hating the cone collar (which is completely understandable) We tried to see if he could have the cone off until bedtime but he just insists on trying to bite and rip his bandage off. I just wish I could explain to him it’s all for his own good! I think it’s going to be a long couple of weeks…

A lovely weekend

The weekend was a mixture of sunshine and showers but it did bring about a very beautiful rainbow later on Friday and then a double rainbow…

Despite the changeable weather, we still had a fun weekend. On Saturday we visited the Wirksworth Festival, an annual festival held in a local market town. It showcases over 150 artists, makers, musicians and food suppliers. It was my first time there and it was fantastic. Here are a few of the things there were to see:

This cow image by Joy Pitts was made entirely from clothes labels, it was difficult to get a good image behind the glass window but you can see some of the details.

This was my favourite sculpture by Duncan Thurlby, a sculptor who uses steel and scrap metal to make his ideas come to life.

This is one of the images by Rebecca Morledge,  a local illustrator – I love her attention to detail and use of colour.

This was another  of my favourite pieces, by Sue Vanderplank, taking inspiration from nature, fashion and textiles.

Sunday was a quieter day spent at home and we had some fun with William, playing with him with sticks and twigs in the garden. He was so alert and took some great photos!

If you look closely, you can see the twig he’s jumped up to catch somewhere around his middle. I think he enjoyed playing around :)

How was your weekend?

Organisation success!

I did it! I finally tidied my desktop which now looks like this —>

I even changed the icons for my folders to look pretty :) It’s amazing how much better you feel after you have removed all the clutter in front of you – I guess that can be said for most things in life! How did you get on with tidying your desktop?

And a certain someone wanted to say hello…

he said he was feeling left out! ;)
